    1. Carr, Stuart C. “Globalization and Culture at Work”
-Globalization and culture are connected in many ways because of how even a slight change in globalization could shift one’s cultural beliefs. This will help to talk about globalization and culture work together and the positive and negative effects that come from them.
    2. Brysk, Alison “Globalization and Human Rights”
-In this book, Brysk talks about how human rights are affected by globalization and how it continues to change over time based off of statistics and information from other viable sources. I will use this information to come up with questions about how human rights are changing and whether they are good or not for society as a whole.
    3. Suárez-Orozco, Marcelo M. “Learning in the Global Era”
-I will use this book to talk about how education is being affected and what changes are coming to it because of globalization expanding throughout the world.

  2. Tim Owen

    None of them
Because they were all good questions
I had to change the focus when searching for sources from digitization to globalization for the most part, as globalization had far more sources to go off of.
    N/A
How have the changes to pricing models for games due to globalization affected what gamers pay

  3. Todd Wilson

    1. Has globalization taken over our world?
How has globalization changed the methods of education?

    2. The questions were not very useful because I am looking at more of how globalization and digitization has influenced people’s lives and routines. I also want to mention how globalization has changed with technology and building aspects.

    3. How was globalization and digitization progressed throughout the past couple decades?
What aspects of globalization are most popular? (Computer/electronic, business life, home lifestyle)
How do you believe digitization has changed work-styles, living methods, etc.?

    4. N/A
    5.
    6. How has globalization and digitization effected culture?

    1. Questions that I found were dead ends were those that were short ended or not broad such as ‘What types of chemicals are released?’ This question is not broad enough to formulate into a research paper.
    2. This question would be considered ‘dead end’ because it is not broad enough or does not supply enough information or a specific topic to be formulated into a research topic.
    3. ‘Does globalization have an effect on the world we live in?’ This is one of the questions that I am considering for my research paper however, It needed to be modified. How “What are the effects of globalization on the environment?”
    4. New questions that I arrived at were that of how carbon dioxide and deforestation effect the atmosphere and how it can be a form of pollution
    5. A few more questions arose from the research that I have done so far such as questions regarding different ways that the environment is affected. I have learned that globalization and the environment are often overlooked. Globalization is often times the focal point of the economy rather than the environment.

Which questions proved to be dead-ends? So, far I haven’t run into any questions that are dead-ends.
Why? Because my questions are very broad.
Which questions had to be modified due to the contours of the field as you set on your quest and continued to search? None as of now
What are the new questions you arrived at in this way (or N/A if none above)? N/A
Were there any brand new questions that arose as you continued along your research journey until now? I added a new question, “How has globalization affected the world? What are the positive and negatives?”

As I started my quest in trying to conduct a complete, well-written research paper, I found it somewhat difficult to figure out what topic dealing with Globalization I would like to find out more about and discuss throughout my paper. I started to brainstorm a lot and soon thought of the topic of poverty. My senior year in high school, I had to conduct a research paper on a real-world issue that interested me and I chose to do mine on poverty. Although I already have some insight and knowledge on this topic, I still have many unanswered questions I would like to find out the answers to, and bringing in the variable of Globalization will only lead me to question more about this topic as a whole. So after I formed my broad research question, I formed many sub questions to generalize the topic a little more. I’m hoping in doing research, I will be able to answer most of the questions I have dealing with globalization and poverty.

    1. Questions about what jobs technology seems to make obsolete, older technology that seems to be being replaced, or unneeded.
    2. This seemed to be because a majority of the sites were just focusing on the new technologies, and how they are effecting people in a more positive manner, and the advancements they are making in their respected field. I also think they were dead-ends because in this day and age, many of the older methods or ways of doing things are easily tossed away because advancements happen so often.
    3. Maybe change medical laboratories to genetic research or cancer research, because those fields seem to be rapidly advancing because of technology, globalization and digitization.

    1. My dead end questions were 8) How did the story on Cecil the Lion affect our country?, and 9) How did other countries feel about our role in the death of Cecil the Lion?
    2. My questions are too specific to make a topic on, they magnify too far into a single event rather than a broader topic.
    3. My questions that needed to be modified are 8) How did the story on Cecil the Lion affect our country?, and 9) How did other countries feel about our role in the death of Cecil the Lion?
    4. What are our views on Big Game Trophy hunting? What specific examples of trophy hunting can show our relations with other countries or have affected our relations with other countries?
    5. What countries do we trade with often? How do differences in culture affect our views of marine animal rights?

    1. Which questions proved to be dead end?
    – Which aspects of globalization affects the job market the most?
    2. Why?
    – There are so many aspects of globalization that have affected the job market in their own way. The question is too broad and it needs to be more specific.
    3. Which questions had to be modified due to contours of the field as you set out on your quest and continued to search?
-Which aspect of globalization affects the job market the most?
I changed this question to be able to conduct better research.
    4. What are the new questions you arrived at in this way?
    – In what ways has globalization affected the job market?
    5. Were there any brand new questions that arose as you continued along your research journey until now?
    no.

    1) The dead ends for my question are:
    2) What has globalization done that has impacted your life?
    7) If you could improve globalization what would you do?
    8) What items do you purchase that are not found in the United States?
    9) What item do you use that are a part of the world trade?
    10) How do you picture the world in ten years with or without the progression of globalization and digitization?
    2) The reason for the questions being inadequate would be due to how they do not talk specifically about the topic of how the impact or help globalization in the food market industry.
    3) Question 2, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are question that I had to change but they were modified and changed to match the topic and research for my essay.
    4) My new questions for this essay are:
    2) What specific food products are a part of globalization that businesses rely on in order to be successful.
    7) What country does these specific foods come from and what relationship do the have with the United States?
    8) What businesses are competitors for purchasing a specific food items and what are the foods importance?
    9) If we could trade food items with other countries what would they be and what impact would they have for the other countries economy?
    10) If food markets were to not have good relationships what countries would suffer from these bad relationships?
    5) At the moment there has not been any new questions from my research but hopefully I’ll be able to get new question and put them in essay and interviews and answers them.

Which questions proved to be dead-end? Why?
In my first attempt at waypoint 1, all my questions turned out to be dead ends because they were merely just interview questions.
    Dead end questions:
    1. How has globalization impacted your business?
    2. How has digitalization molded your business?
    3. When did this begin?
    4. How has it evolved since then?
    5. What do you think globalization means?
    6. What do you think digitalization means?
    7. What businesses or companies were/are you competing with?
    8. Name some negative and positive advantages due to the globalization.
    9. How do you see your business 5-10 years from now?
    10. What do you do in your business?
    2. .
    3. Which questions had to be modified due to the contours of the field as you set out on your quest and continued to search?
-Well I basically had to restart and do everything all over again since everything was done incorrectly so all my questions were modified and trashed.
    4. What are the new questions you arrived at in this way (or N/A if none above)?
    – How is globalization affecting religions? What is the relationship between globalization and religion? How is globalization negatively and positively impacting religions? How is it affecting countries? Has it led to growth or decline in different religions/countries? What pressures due to globalization lead to religious conflict? What has globalization brought to religion?
    5. Were there any brand new questions that arose as you continued along your research journey until now? No.

    1. Which questions proved to be dead ends?
    – The trading of wild animals
    2. Why?
    – I knew that there was inner trading between zoos and aquariums however, under further research I understood that they do inner trading because taking wild animals isn’t trade but poaching. Poaching is illegal now. By having inbreeding in the zoos/aquariums there are easily animals that can still be traded.
    3. Which questions had to be modified due to the contours of the field as you set out on your quest and continue to search>
    – I was originally going to ask if trading was legal. After doing some research I learned that it is legal but there are laws that regulate the trade system
    4. What are the new questions you arrived at in this way?
    – Does Exotic Pet trade involve globalization?
    – Are the laws effective?
    – Are they the right laws to be passed?
    5. Were there any brand new questions that arose as you continued along your research journey until now?
    – If breeding is the only reason for trading
    – Which zoos/aquariums are non profit

    1. The majority of my questions, such as “What was the cause of the outsourcing of your job?” and “Do feel as though it was fair for others to still keep their jobs, while you lost yours?” proved to be dead questions.

    2. The questions above are dead because they are meant to be asked during the personal interview.

    3. One of the questions that needs to be modified is “How do you think the advancement of technology played a part in the outsourcing of jobs?” Instead of asking the question to one specific person, I will need to conduct more research to see how this has affected not just one person, but the entire country.

    4. Some new questions I was able to arrive at are “How has globalization affected the outsourcing of jobs in the united states?” and “How has the advancement of technology affect the outsourcing of jobs in retail?” I would like to explore the specific topic of retail, being that there is a creation on self- checkout, rather than an actual employee working the cashier.

    5. I would also like to research “How has the creation of electronic cards, text messaging, and email played a part in the outsourcing of jobs for postal workers in the United States?”

    1. Which questions proved to be dead-ends?
    – What are some successful companies that thrive because of globalization?
    2. Why?
    – While answering this question and researching this topic I didn’t really discover anything didn’t know. Global companies all over the world like McDonalds and Nike was seen several times throughout my research.
    3. Which questions had to be modified due to the contours of the field as you set out on your quest and continued to search?
    – How much is the United States dependent on globalization?
    – I used this question but also added a counter question asking how many companies depend on the United States?
    4. What are the new questions you arrived at in this way (or N/A if none above)?
    – N/A so far
    5. Were there any brand new questions that arose as you continued along your research journey until now?
    – Not really the questions I asked pretty much took care of my main question so far.

  15. Alea

    1. the questions that proved to be dead ends are the ones that explain the effect of globalization for developing countries.
2.why? because industrialized countries are easier to discuss than ones that are still being developed
3.A question that had to be modified due to the contours of the field is the access to new markets, It could be changed by explaining precise new markets and how the are effected by globalization.
    4.N/A
5.Any brand new questions? So far I have not discovered any brand new questions to include in this particular part.

  16. nick

For my question I would ask questions on how Globalization and digitization has affected American society from the past, today, and what will happen in the future with globalization. the questions that i have already found out are some of the methods people use to gain advantages through globalization, which countries are gaining more power in the world, and how it affects the United States in a world view. I modified the question: on how globalization, by adding more information to support my argument for keeping businesses in America on essay 1 double font. I would like to know what businesses are more internationally across the globe and which corporations are less involved in international markets. I would like to learn about how American society was affected by globalization in the 80s and 90s and how it differs from today’s marketplace and jobs. I want to know how globalization grew following the cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States. What improvements came to American society from globalization,

  17. Ashley

As I set out onto my journey for questions about Globalization and digitization in the United States, I kind of stumbled on what to ask and how should I ask the question. It took me a while to decide what I was going to do and that was to focus mainly on Globalization and its trends in America. As a kept searching I noticed that there was some research already broken down, this made me become more curious to the questions I asked myself. The questions I arrived at were better for me to actually break down further and help me make my paper longer. As I was getting into more researching of my questions there were more questions that seemed to pop up. Throughout researching and finding more about my topic I feel like I am going to find myself asking more and more questions about the subject. Although I have a broad question I broke it down to four little questions to answer my main question. It was a struggle to think of my main question but after finding it was much easier to dig deeper into the question.
